SPECIAL COVER : DARJEELING PHILATELIC EXHIBITION 1976



Three days DEPEX 1976 was held at Darjeeling from November 5 -7, 1976. Three special cover was released on the occasion. This was the first philatelic exhibition held at Darjeeling.

SPECIAL COVER : SIRIMANU CARRIED COVER (2019)


This Sirimanu carried special cover was released on October 15, 2019 on the eve of Pydithalli Sirimanotsavam celebrated to propitiate Goddess Pydithalli of Vizianagaram town in North Coastal Andhara Pradesh. This cover was carried by the priest of the temple taken in a procession tied to a lean stump of a tamarind tree, which is raised to a height of about 60 ft.

SPECIAL COVER : WORLD THINKERS’ AND WRITERS’ PEACE MEET – 27TH - 31ST DECEMBER 2015


A Special Cover was released on the occasion of World Thinkers’ and Writers’ Peace Meet  at Kolkata. The cover was designed by Dipok Dey.  The occasion coincided with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Thirteen Special Covers was released during the six days ‘Ekla Cholo Re’, West Bengal State Level Philatelic Exhibition held at Kolkata (November 16-21, 2019).

SPECIAL COVER - SIKKIMPEX 82



A very little is known or read about the first Philatelic Competition that was held for three days at Gangtok during November 2-4, 1982. A handful of these covers is available with Mr. Ganesh Pradhan, Rhenock who gave a first hand information that he had witnessed the competition. Interestingly, i am happy to write that I had come across a certificate of Late Ganga Kaptan, Sikkim's first Nepali Novelist who had taken part at that competition.

I here want to share an anecdote that happened during the second Philatelic Exhibition that was held at Gangtok in 2002, exactly after twenty years. I was one of the 40 participants who took part in the exhibition and my first foray into the world of philately.

In a welcome speech, one of the officials of the Postal Department of Sikkim told that the exhibition was the first philatelic exhibition to be held at the Himalayan state of Sikkim but they had to accept their mistake when they were told that the first exhibition in Sikkim was held in 1982 and Mr. Ganesh Pradhan had exhibited the three special covers that was released then

SPECIAL COVER : BERPEX-2014

Heritage Post Office of Berhampore



Murshidabad Postal Division at St. John Ambulance Hall, Berhampore (West Bengal) organised Berpex-2014, District Level Philatelic Exhibition from 5th to 7th September 2014. 

Two covers was released - Heritage Post Office of Berhampore and Murshidabad Silk.

SPECIAL COVER : BHUPEX-2013



The District Level Philatelic Exhibition, BHUPEX-2013 was organized by Bhubaneswar Postal Division from 25th to 26th March 2013 at Jaydev Bhawan, Bhubaneshwar. 

Two covers on Shanti Stupa, Dhauli and White Tiger – Nadanakanan Zoological Park were released on respective days.

SPECIAL COVER : AASTHA COOCHBEHAR PHILATELIC EXHIBITION 2003






Three days philatelic exhibition named Aastha Coochbehar Philatelic Exhibition 2003 was held from November 8 to 10, 2003. The theme chosen for the exhibition was Princely States of India. Four special covers on landmarks of Cooch Behar — the Cooch Behar palace, Raash mela, Jenkins School and Cooch Behar head post office was released designed by Dipok Dey.

This was the first instance illustration of Coochbehar was featured on Special Covers of India.
